New York University is offering a remarkable chance for females to pursue a master’s degree in Near Eastern Studies at the Kevorkian Center through the Falak Sufi Scholarship in 2024. This fully-funded program is open to South Asian students, with a particular emphasis on encouraging female applicants. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and provide a yearly stipend. Students pursuing a master’s degree at Graduate School of Arts & Science at New York University, including applicants to the program’s joint degree with Journalism, and the concentrations with International Relations, Advanced Language Proficiency, and Museum Studies.
Scholarship is to honor her memory of Falak Sufi was born in Pakistan in 1983, a brilliant students graduate in political science at National University of Singapore. She was deeply interested in Women and Gender in South Asia, the historiography of this region, and the strength of the humanities. She was a highly respected and greatly admired graduate student in the field of Near Eastern Studies at New York University’s Kevorkian Center when she passed away suddenly in New York in 2008. Her untimely death was met with widespread sorrow and shock among her peers and professors.
