This program is open for high school students from Asia and G7 member countries to study in Japan. The program is designed to promote cultural exchange between Japan and other countries in the region. The program is implemented by AFS Intercultural Programs, in collaboration with AFS Partner organizations and NGOs in Asia and G7 member countries. The duration of the Asia Kakehashi Exchange Program is 4 months.
This student exchange program is fully funded and all the expenses are covered by the organizers and sponsors. During the program students will study at Japanese high school, live with a host family and participation in international camps. This will be great experience for the students and it will help them understand the local culture. This year 100 candidates will be selected under this program. The program also provides opportunities for participants to engage in community service and volunteer work, promoting cross-cultural understanding.

Eligibility Criteria
The Asia Kakehashi Exchange Program is open to high school students who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be between 15 and 18 years of age, born after April 2, 2005, and before April 1, 2008.
- Citizen of one of the countries/regions listed below at the time of application.
- Obtained a minimum of 60% marks in principle in all subjects in the latest examination at school and overall minimum average of 60% marks in all subjects for the past two years
- Applicants must be familiarize with Japanese language.
- Demonstrate strong potential for leadership to act as a bridge between the home country and Japan during and after the program
- Not have participated in the ASIA KAKEHASHI program before.
- Priority will be given to students of families with low incomes.
