Are you young journalist and looking for an exchange program in USA to gain practical exchange then you are advised to apply for ICFJ Professional Fellows Program for Emerging Media Leaders. The International Center for Journalists(ICFJ) is offering a unique opportunity for young journalists and media professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of digital journalism. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with ICFJ and aims to advance the development of independent and high-quality media in the region. While the young journalist from Latic American and The Caribbean are in USA under this program on the other hand U.S. Fellows will have the chance to take part in outbound programs to several Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The program will select media professionals from 25 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States through a competitive process. Selection process is merit-based so only selected candidates from eligible candidates will be given this program. ICFJ exchange program is fully funded, all expenses will be covered by the organizers. Selected fellows will have a opportunity to work with U.S media organizations to improve their Journalist skills like investigation, fact checking and podcasting. And on the other hand selected fellows will also gain experience of developing entrepreneurship projects to build a sustainable business model. Eligible Criteria
Following are eligibility and requirements who wan to apply for ICFJ program,
- Are between 25 and 40 years old
- Are from one of the 25 eligible countries
- Are citizens or permanent residents of their home country
- Are currently living and working in their home country
- Have at least two years of professional experience
- Submit a complete application with all required documents by the deadline
- Are able to participate in the virtual program from September to November 2024
- Are able to participate in the in-person program in the United States in 2025
- Are eligible for a U.S. J-1 visa
- Are committed to returning to their home country after completing the program
- Have proficient English skills (spoken and written) at the time of application.
